This year the Rotes Rathaus will be 150 years old. To celebrate this, the site fence in front of the building will shine in new splendour: we are cooperating with our neighbours from the Senate Chancellery, who have designed the 100-metre long section of our site fence in front of the Rotes Rathaus with new motifs. There you can now discover a lot of new things under the heading "Rotes Rathaus Today" - from the new underground station to the shooting for "Babylon Berlin". Or take a look at the history of the 150-year-old building by means of an elaborately designed chronology.

Since 2013, the construction site for the Rotes Rathaus underground station has been located directly in front of the seat of government. Over the last two years the construction fence has been moved further and further back, so that a beautiful square has already been created in front of the town hall. However, the fence cannot be completely dismantled at the moment, because behind the fence is the access road to the construction site to reduce the load on the Alex tunnel. Accordingly, the site fence will probably remain in place until 2021.

The new construction fence was inaugurated on Monday. Christian Gaebler, head of the Senate Chancellery, and Ute Bonde and Jörg Seegers, managing director of BVG Projekt GmbH, were enthusiastic about the design and the successful cooperation: "A real eye-catcher!"
