Relocation stress at the Marx-Engels Forum
A lot is also happening on our construction site away from the three railway stations in the light of the ever-closer commissioning - at the Marx-Engels Forum, for example. The area has been used as a logistics centre in recent years. Among other things, the Implenia company had built its container castle there. With the completion of the shell of the Museumsinsel underground station, the Swiss company's work - apart from the surface restoration along Unter den Linden - is complete. The container castle has therefore been dismantled in recent weeks.
Only a few metres further on, there are also major changes to be observed: The tunnel opening at the track change facility has been closed. Many years ago, the starting shaft for the tunnel boring machine "Bärlinde" was located here, after which the track changing facility was built here. The opening was then used in the further course of the construction work to transport construction material underground. Since this is no longer necessary, the tunnel opening was closed with a concrete cover as early as July. The surface is now gradually being restored to the condition it was in before the construction work began and returned to the district.
